List of Case Statuses

As you progress through a case, update the case status to reflect the appropriate status of the case. Statuses are categorized by cases in Intake, Pre Litigation, Litigation, and Close Out. It is important to update case statuses for CASEpeer to generate accurate reports for your firm.

Here are the statuses and what they mean:

Intake: Intake phase, prior to retaining the case

  • Intake: Received intake call, not yet retained

  • Intake Review: In review to retain or reject the new case

  • Intake Packet: Intake Packet is assigned to an Investigator on the case

  • Intake Packet Review: The investigator has completed the Intake Packet and it is ready for review

  • Referred Open: The case is referred to another law firm but the case has not yet been retained by that firm

  • Referred Accepted Open: The outside firm accepts the referred case

  • Referred Closed: Not retaining case, but referred out for review

  • Referred Accepted Closed: Not retaining case, but the firm would like to keep open in CASEpeer for review

Pre Litigation: Negotiations and settlement phase prior to filing the lawsuit

  • Pending assignment: Case retained, waiting for worker assignment

  • Treating: Currently treating

  • Pending Demand: Phase prior to demand going out

  • Demand Writing: Preparing the demand

  • Demand Prepped: Demand in attorney review

  • Lit Review Treating: Treating cases pending review for Litigation

  • Demanded: Demand package sent out

  • Demanded Policy Limit: Policy limit demand package sent out

  • Settlement Negotiations: In negotiation phase

  • Probate: The will is being reviewed

  • Pre Suit: Comprehensive pre-lit status

  • Minors Comp: Any case that is in the process of a minor's compromise

  • Settled: Any case that has settled

  • Pursuing UIM: Pursuing Underinsured Motorist claim

  • Pursuing MedPay: Pursuing Medical Payments claim

  • UIM Demanded: UIM package sent out.

  • Lit Review Demanded: Demanded cases pending review for Litigation

Litigation: Filing the lawsuit or arbitration phase

  • Pending Litigation: Litigation is pending.

  • Litigation Treating: Getting ready for litigation

  • Litigation Initiated: Pending lawsuit/complaint

  • Service: Lawsuit Filed and waiting to be served to the defendant

  • Pending Response: Waiting for response from the defendant

  • Expert Search: Researching experts for trial

  • Medical Records Review: Review of client's medical records and bills

  • Trial Prep: When your firm is preparing for trial

  • Deposition Initiated: Pending deposition

  • Pending Hearing: Pending hearing with judge

  • Deposition: Taking depositions

  • Litigation Discovery: Propounding and responding to discovery

  • Multidistrict Lit

  • Appeals: Appealing previous order

  • Trial: Trial has started

  • Arbitration Initiated: Pending Arbitration demand

  • Arbitration Demanded: Arbitration was demanded

  • Arbitration Discovery: Propounding and responding to discovery

  • Arbitration Prep: Arbitration in progress

  • Arbitration: Arbitration has started

  • Mediation Initiated: Mediation has started

  • Mediation Demanded: Mediation demand letter sent

  • Mediation Discovery: Propounding and responding to discovery

  • Mediation Prep: Preparing for mediation

  • Mediation: Mediation has started

  • Litigation Settled: Settled after litigation started

  • Litigation Verdict: There was a verdict

  • Litigation Money In: Received check

  • Litigation: In litigation

  • Extended Lit: Litigation extension

Lien Negotiations

  • Lien Negotiations: Case has settled liens are being negotiated

  • Check Deposited: Check from insurance has been deposited

Disbursement

  • Disbursement: Funds are in the process of being disbursed

  • Waiting on Minors Comp: Money is held up due to Minors Comp situation

  • Waiting on Minors Birthday: Waiting for Minor to turn 18

  • Disbursed: Settlement check has arrived and costs disbursed

Close Out:

  • Pending Sub Out: Client looking for new representation

  • Subbed Out Lien Closed: Subbed out with no lien

  • Subbed Out: Case subbed out by another firm

  • Subbed Out Lien: Subbed out with lien

  • Drop Review: Considering discontinuing representation

  • Pending Dropped: discontinuing representation

  • Pending Drop Receipt: Drop letter sent

  • Rejected: Case your firm is rejecting

  • Dropped Lien Closed: Dropped with no lien.

  • Dropped: Case was dropped by your firm

  • Dropped Lien: Dropped with a lien

  • Closed: Case is settled and all monies disbursed

  • Storage-Physical: This case closed and stored in paper files

  • Storage-Digital: This case is closed and stored digitally
