Utilize the Signed Lien checkbox when the doctor and patient have signed a lien agreement specifying the doctor will be paid out of the settlement.

Utilize the Filed Lien checkbox when a physician has filed their lien with a local government agency that oversees liens are paid.

This provision is not universally applicable, typically confined to states where clients can independently settle medical payments. In these instances, rather than the law firm managing lien negotiations and ensuring all parties are compensated, the settlement amount, minus attorney fees, is directed to the client, enabling them to directly pay medical providers.
